A UNIVERSAL MESSAGE

Laura Trevisan was born in the Italian province of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Her artistic development began there at a High School of the Arts, and continued in Venice as she obtained a Masters Degree at the Academy of Fine Arts. Personal curiosity and a strong desire to experiment and discover led her to work in several different art fields, including collaboration in the production of special effects for films and 3D computer graphics animation. She has taken part in the organization of theatre workshops and provided instruction in many activities including costume design and creation, blindfold painting, and stage design for theatre. In Milan, and at the EXPO exhibition in Lisbon, her live painting was part of the moving spectacle. During this period her work activities were carried out in various regions of Italy. Later, she worked abroad in Brazil, Japan, Scotland, France, Portugal and the Czech Republic. In her work, Ms. Trevisan maintains an open mind and captures the ordinary in striking fragmentary effects, both in the themes she expresses and in the manner of their expression. Fish are subjects which become people. Her abstract landscapes can almost be entered into if one decides to go beyond a first viewing. Photographs, scraps of writing, postage stamps and numbers are some of the elements she uses and combines to enrich many of her paintings. The whole is transformed into a particularly happy view of everyday life, made up of simple truths, handwriting and numbers with decisive directives, like the horizontal lines introduced in some paintings, at times delicately as in her water-colors, at times vigorously to challenge more hostile surfaces such as a fresco, wood, or gauzes, mixing pictorial techniques and cultures as if this were the most beautiful and simple thing in the world. A universal message which passes through frontiers and overcomes mental barriers, allows us to rediscover, as we view her paintings, that harmonious spirit which brings together the human race.
